1986 Château Lynch-Bages
I really hope I will com across my TN of about 2 years ago. Then this wine was superb. The bottle we had today was still quite youthful and tasting it blind, the late 90´s or even 2001 came up. But it was no comparison with the bottle of about 2 years ago. What I wrote down today: Lean wine. Pleasant red fruits with a little sweetness and some earthy tones. Round. Good bitterness and oak. The tannin is light and somewhat developed. In my memory, two years ago, it was a full bodied, cassis Pauillac with graphite and with decades ahead. With wines of this age you always have to see if you have a good bottle. This bottle was good, but so different from the one we drank two years ago. Source and cellaring were the same. (88 pts.) – Tasted 10/30/2009.
