Decanted for 2 hours before drinking – perhaps served a little warmer than ideal, yet this opened up some lovely flinty and minerally aromas with plenty of briny citus and stone fruit. Had a lovely freshness and concentratration to the palate which was focused and long. Too young! (93 pts.) – Tasted 9/27/2009.

Not what I expected. A little hot on the finish. Not very well balanced. The components of a nice white burg where there but I expected more from the producer and the vineyard. (88 pts.) – Tasted 9/26/2009.

Starting to show its age, the color is leaning towards brickish red. Lots of black cherry and vanilla on the nose. The oak influence has definitely subsided. Medium bodied, still showing good acidity, and probably capable of another 5 years of cellar time without deminishing much. (93 pts.) – Tasted 9/24/2009.

I’m not sure why we bought this wine, but thanks to Devin at the Spirit Shoppe for stocking it. We had never had the Babol grape before but what an incredible surprise. Tastes like a hugely ripe cabernet with a slight blend of Australian shiraz. This wine would make some classed growth Bordeaux blush with shame. The nose just keeps coming from the glass — a blend of blackberry, vanilla, and some cocoa. The taste was fantastic. Lots of black berries, ripe plums, and a hint of allspice/fall spices(?). The finish is moderately long. If it wasn’t for the finish this might score in the high 90′s. I know the Spirit Shoppe is out, but if you can find it this is a great deal at roughly $65/bottle. Quite intens citrus nose with slight hint of oak. Palate is full but fresh. Quite elegant and good finish. (87 pts.) – Tasted 9/18/2009.

Take this with grain of salt (or better yet, spicy food) as I have limited tatsing experience with German wines. Good balance but more sweet than off-dry. Lots of interesting stone fruit flavors going on in the glass. Secondary flavors of lime zest. Lengthy finish. Prost! (88 pts.) – Tasted 9/16/2009.

A nice winery to hit on our way out of Willamette Valley with different wines for different price points. This was a little bit on the high end for us but Teresa really liked the spicy plum smell that danced on the sides of her tongue and I thought it would go really well with burgers. – Tasted 9/3/2009.
