2008 Château Trotanoy

Posted by WineTalking On July - 30 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

08 Château Trotanoy is deep ruby. The nose is taken over by an impressive barrage of flowers, spice, dark chocolate, plums, and ripe blackberries and raspberries. Rich, concentrated, and full bodied, the wine makes you feel as though you just poured liquid silk all over your palate. The sensuous finish goes on and on with amazing depth of flavor. A great marriage of power and decadence aptly describes this wine. 97-99 Pts (98 pts.) – Tasted 7/30/2009.

Rustic and a bit dusty wine. A lot of firm bitterness and acidity. A bit drying in the finish. Medium bodied. Not waiting much longer might be the best option. (88 pts.) – Tasted 7/25/2009.

Great wine! Very dry and acid in the French style. Barnyard nose on opening but I decanted it through an aerating funnel three times and after one hour of breathing it was a completely different animal – there is no way that you would pick that the two were the same wine! (80 pts.) – Tasted 7/23/2009.

1998 Domaine de Chevalier

Posted by WineTalking On July - 18 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Dark red color with an orange hue. Delicious creamy nose with espresso, blackcurrant and roasted oak. On the palate much more classic with leafy blackcurrant and iron, more bitter chocolate and coffee on the midpalate and finish. Pure and refined with elegance and perfect balance. Very true to its origin. (92 pts.) – Tasted 7/18/2009.

2006 Blasted Church Pinot Noir

Posted by WineTalking On July - 14 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Appearance: Burgundy in colour, which was slightly lighter than I expected, but very clear.
Smell: This wine had quite a sweet smell, vanilla, with some earthy tones.
Taste: Incredibly smooth and well blended flavours. Definitely had an earthy flavour with some cherry.
Overall: I loved this wine, and will be sure to have it again. I had it with fruit, cheese, and crackers that may have overpowered the wine a little bit. However, it was a great bottle, and I will be sure to try one again soon. (95 pts.) – Tasted 7/14/2009.

Lovely persistence, stone fruits and a touch of spice from the oak. Still no rush to be drinking this – but it was lovely! (92 pts.) – Tasted 7/12/2009.
