Got this originally from small vineyards after an impressive showing at a trade tasting. This is from a producer of various sparkling wines under many labels. This one designated C.E. for Collio Euganei. Oranges, some white flowers, smooth with excellent balancing acidity. A Saturday night special. – Tasted 6/29/2008.

2004 Château Branaire (Duluc-Ducru)

This is already showing some lightening at the edges. Scents of jammy dark berries, spice and chocolate tints come forth with only a bit of swirling. The style has more firmness than 03 or 05. The finish shows a hint of under ripeness from the vintage. This is a Branaire to enjoy today and over the next decade. (90 pts.) – Tasted 6/14/2008.

2005 DOMAINE MARC JAMBON ET FILS Mâcon-Pierreclos Cuvée Fut de Chêne

This is a elegant, translucent plum colored wine turning to clear at the edge. It’s aromma leaps out of the glass, carrying nose singing esters of clove, white pepper, orange blossom, b urnt rubber, strawberry and vanilla. The wine is light to medium bodied with a feeble attack, a round and alcoholic mid-pallate, and a fine grained tannic finish of mineral and green apple. Overall, t his alcoholic and assertive wine lacks fruit and ballance. Drinkable. Note: I think the wine was too young, and would have benifited from cellaring. On day two, the alcohol, while still excessive, had toned down allowing a more pronounced minerality to shine though. – Tasted 6/10/2008.

2004 Castello del Terriccio Capannino Toscana IGT

Posted by WineTalking On June - 9 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

A light colored wine showing bricking around the edges and a clear meniscus. Upon opening, the wine had a big alcoholic nose of bright cherry, tar, and earth, but quickly shifted to blueberry, bug spray and green pepper. The palate begins with a clean dry metallic attack, transitions to stems, green pepper, and sweet tobacco, and ends with a long bitter finish. This wine is extremely primary and rustic with rough drying tannins, and it is not entirely unenjoyable. Gave me a nasty headache. (83 pts.) – Tasted 6/9/2008.
