1993 Dufouleur Père & Fils Charmes-Chambertin

This wine was opened, and quickly determined that it needed time in a decanter. I kept a glass of this around most of the evening to see how it would evolve. The color was great, with ruby/garnet color and clear. The nose was quite closed and really was challenged to open up at all through the evening. Aromas of earth, dark cherry, chocolate and cherry liqueur. A balanced wine, but should have held for a few more years. (93 pts.) – Tasted 3/5/2007.

Massive, unsubtle and out of balance. Good material, but simply too muscular. 85P (85 pts.) – Tasted 3/1/2007.
